Many of you are probably asking yourself what fanfilter is? People close to me will know "The Yankee Reds", which I tried to turn into a successful blog, podcast, and Instagram channel. The problem was it was a little too niche. Surprise, my American friends don't like Liverpool, or soccer for that matter.
I have always wanted my own content platform, but realized my approach was a little naive and too specified. Fanfilter is opening the horizon up to covering all sports with the help of other people; however, its really unique because of the content. For two years now I have been pushing articles on sites like Fansided, and was doing it completely for free. Not realizing I was being severely taken advantage of.
I wrote over 250+ articles for their company and received next to nothing, besides exposure. Don't get me wrong, I am still grateful for the opportunity, but seeing it from the other side, it wasn't the best situation. However, neither is writing for a company that is too politically correct or controlling when it comes to content and style.
For awhile, it didn't even feel like my own writing. I started all of this because of my love for writing, and how passionate I am in regard to sports and journalism. Nowadays, you can say whatever you want on the internet and not get in trouble for it. Which is exactly what I want this blog to be about.
It will obviously be a long journey, and this is something I have had in the works for a long time. In the long run, I would like this to be a platform for aspiring writers to use, to get their content out to the public while being compensated at a reasonable rate. Clearly this will be pre-revenue for awhile, but that is the long term goal here.
Saying whatever you want, about whatever, whenever. I don't want our contributors to be fake or have characters, I just want a platform with REAL content that is 100% uncensored. All fans, no filter.
Cheers
